i am loving...

This color combo...

I want that dress. This is kind of the color scheme of my room.

I haven't really been up to much of anything lately. I have just been relaxing and laying low. I have been job hunting like crazy. Everyday I come home from work and look on Craigslist and follow-up on leads. Finding a job is a job in itself! I wish someone would pay me to look for one... :)
I had another interview on Friday. I think it went well, but time will only tell if it really did. I guess if I get the job that will prove how it went! I really hope I get it! It would be AWESOME!

I have been working on my room a lot more! I moved a few things around and I got a nightstand! I looooove it. Found at IKEA. It's white. I may paint it, but I'm leaving it as is right now. I am thinking about putting some pattern in the center of the door for kicks.
All I need to do is paint something for my walls... you know some decorations and whatnot.
THEN, I will do some work in the living room. Pictures to come!
ALSO, remember when I thought my sewing machine was locked in its case? WELL, I opened it. Because I'm magical.
But really, I am way excited about this because now I can make some pillow covers... if I can figure out how to use it. Don't worry. I'm really good at teaching myself things. One time, I taught myself how to knit in just one night. Yeah, I'm pretty awesome.

Happy Monday!

9/11

Last night I stayed up and watched a Fox News tribute to 9/11 and I couldn't help but get teary-eyed and filled with emotion. I think the older I get, the more of an impact this date has on me. I feel for those families who have lost loved ones and for the survivors.
I know I will never forget.
I am proud to live in America and to call myself an American.
I am proud of the men and women who serve and protect our country.
Including my dad.
I will never forget.

raise yo hand

if you think my blog is in need of a semi-annual face lift?
Well, I am currently in the process of making this here bloggy blog utterly divine.
At least as divine as I can make it.
Given my skillz and talents, that's a pretty tight range. But, I'll get there.

Here are some updates for you:

- I am still working on the apartment/room. I am having a hard time with the red walls and feeling like it's looking like my mom's house. And although I loved my mom's home-y, warm feel, I also feel like that's exactly where it belongs, at my mom's house.
white white white.

- I really want to paint our coffee table that is currently a dark brown with a hint of red. I want to paint it white. I love white. I actually want to paint everything white. This includes, picture frames, mirror frames, all side tables and my empty frames in my room. Is this too overboard? Seriously, is it?
- I also want to revamp my mom's lampshades. They are mostly a cream color or black and that just contributes to the dungeon/dark feel to the apartment. I really want to do it, but I just don't know how. Anyone know how?
- I still need to clean my room.
- I think it's important to stay hydrated but it's so hard because I love love love me some diet coke (surprise!). Trying to drink water daily is really a challenge. What the heck is wrong with me.
- I have a job interview tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Alix Out.

watch out!

I know I blog a lot about STUFF but let's be honest here, I love stuff and things.
Go ahead, call me shallow. I don't even care.
I have been really wanting a watch.
Can't decide if I want a white one or a gold one.
I have a major love for gold these days but when I see the white, I just love it too.

And of course they absolutely HAVE to be Marc Jacobs... right?
If only.
I will save my money for one. I really will.
Then I can look at my wrist and see the time instead of faking it.

Check out some cute ones HERE.

john mayer.

For the last 10 years, I'm pretty sure Ani has begged me to go a John Mayer concert.
Well, on Tuesday, all of our dreams came true and we attended a John Mayer concert.
It was truly magical.
I have never experienced such an AWESOME, AMAZING concert in my LIFE.
And I have been to Celine Dion. (When I was like 10)
Let's talk about all the awesome things about the concert:
-The weather was perfection. Until the sun went down. Then it was freaking cold. BUT, nothing a blanket and a little cuddle action couldn't fix.
-John played all my favorite songs and I sang along to all of them.
-He said, "this one's for you." which of course was directed towards yours truly.
-the sound was phenomenal.
-PHENOMENAL.

Kirk and myself awaiting John Mayer's debut at Usana. BOMB.

Us, John is in the background. He's playing. Don't worry, there is nothing wrong with my eye. Poor quality is due to iPhone camera.

CUUUUUUTE.

The best part was after his last song, John Mayer left the stage and after much screaming and applauding, he decided to come back out for an encore. So we sneaked into the seating and got a closer look. AWESOME! Such a fun night!

wizard of oz.

My favorite movie.

But that is off topic.
Today I had my first interview for a job.
YAY.
No, not yay because it was a GROUP interview which they failed to mention to me before I drove all the way to American Fork.
I am not a huge fan of group interviews for the following reasons:

1. Trying to outshine everyone with your work experience with them in the room is awkward.
2. This is basically a test to see how cool you are. If you can hold a conversation with the interviewer and if you stand out in a crowd. Or in my case, a group of 4. One little popularity contest.
3. You hear all the text book interview questions and answers and you realize that what person A said was exactly what YOU were going to say. Now you have to improvise and of course you sound kind of dumb because you did not prepare for others to be in the room with you.

However, if I do get the job, I will be very pleased. I need one so badly and this company seems to be top-notch awesome all around.
If you know of any places that are hiring or any good job opportunities out there, let me know! I would greatly appreciate it.
Sincerely,
ME.

P.S. I enjoy this quote.

self-diagnosed.

Let's face it. We all have a little hypochondriac in us... (Maybe I speak for myself only.)
I have been known to have moments when WebMD is my answer for every discomfort I have experienced.
But, I believe I have just diagnosed myself with peptic ulcers.
Sick, right?
Well, I'm annoyed because I haven't been able to enjoy a delicious meal or feel great in a long time so this is the only answer I can come up with.
That, or cancer.
I prefer to believe that it's the first, and since I am not insured (ALSO awesome. Not stressful at all.) and ulcers can be dealt with fairly easily. Kind of.
Good thing.
Time to DE-STRESS.
and RELAX.
That's what I really want to do, but right now,
I just feel like THIS:

fall is approaching.

And we all know what that means...
SHOPPING!
Any excuse to shop is as good as any.
Although I am ranging on the more poor side of the financial world,
I couldn't stop myself from eye-ing these lovelies:

I may or may not already have these in the "cognac" color and I am totally digging them.
Is there anything wrong with having every single color this baby comes in?
But in all seriousness, grey is so in this season and what better way to incorporate than on your feet? I love them.
Too bad I can't quite afford them at the moment.
Oh dearies, you will just have to wait to grace my beautiful feet with your presence.

um...

hi.
I feel like I should write about a ton of stuff, but honestly I have no idea what to even say or where to even start.
We are all sad about it.
Clearly.
(Shea. Shade's manager. On the floor. In the back room. Taking a nap. It was one of those days.)
I am currently in the market for another job.
If you know of any good ones, let a sista know. :)

In other news, I am officially going to South Carolina in the month of October and I am 10000% stoked about this trip for many reasons, in no particular order:
1. I have never been there and have always always wanted to go.
2. East Coast.
3. Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Dear John.
4. MINDY MINDY MINDY! I love her and miss her terribly. Very excited to have some bffl time. Seriously. It's long overdue.

Moving forward, I went to spin class for the second time this week and may I just say that I cannot figure out a good way to sit on those good-for-nothing seats. Saddle sore. I seriously love the class though. It's the only one that I feel like I get a fabulous work out, sweaty and all, and it goes by SO fast. I LOVE it. That, and YOGA.

I have decided that I want to take an art class. I have always loved painting and learning and when I was taking art in high school, junior high AND elementary school, it was the ONE class I always looked forward to. So, if you know of any great art teachers OR classes, kindly refer them to me. :)

I have many great plans for my room and some of my decorations therein. I have repainted my frames. Remember those? Well, now they are navy and I am not sold on the color. They kind of look like they belong in a boys room. Although, I'm pretty sure if I saw painted frames hung on the wall like mine in a boy's room, I would question a few things about said boy. Color is really hard for me. I can never get the colors I want right. I have an idea but different shades and tones and hues are so HARD and really the difference is monumental in my eyes.
I sound so cool right now. I know. I also want to make some pillow covers for some of my existing decorative pillows. Ani and I inherited my mom's super vintage singer sewing machine and the case it comes in is LOCKED with no key in sight. We have to break into it and it's harder than it looks. The sewing machine looks like this. I think I can figure out how to use it.
I am way excited to actually do things and make things. I love making and creating! I mean, really, who doesn't?
